This is a one of a kind distressed jean jacket with includes fabric that has been reclaimed from vintage skirts from the Hmong Hill Tribe people in Thailand. The designs are all hand drawn with a batik wax pen and then dyed with natural indigo. The fabric may have been dyed many times to get the desired depth of color.
The hemp fabric was hand woven on a back strap loom which means the width is restricted to about 30 cm wide. The length of the hemp batik fabric rolls that we stock is typically 5 meters which when pleated is the length needed to go around a skirt (pictured in photos 3 and 4).
