A beautiful piece of Spanish agricultural history, reimagined as a coffee table. This wooden threshing board, traditionally known as a trillo, was originally used to separate wheat and other grains from their stalks before being converted into a table with the addition of wooden legs.
For centuries, Spanish farmers used trillos by pulling them behind mules or oxen across harvested grain. Small, sharp stones embedded in the wood helped break apart the stalks and release the grain.
This piece retains its original embedded stones, beautifully weathered wooden surface, and an iron hook underneath, believed to have been used to pull the board.
